Working Regulations of the Academic Committee

To standardize academic management, guide research direction, and ensure the highest quality and integrity of academic activities.

Article I: General Provisions

Section 1.1: Nature and Position

The Academic Committee (also referred to as the Scientific Advisory Committee) is the highest advisory, review, and deliberative body for academic affairs within the Global Feng Shui Association (GFSA), responsible to the Board of Directors. Its core mission is to guide the Association's academic development, uphold academic ethics, and ensure the quality of the Association's academic reputation and research outcomes.

Article II: Committee Composition

Section 2.1: Member Qualifications

The Academic Committee is composed of domestic and international experts and scholars who enjoy a high reputation and have profound academic achievements in the fields of Feng Shui, I Ching, architecture, environmental science, psychology, and related humanities.

Section 2.2: Organizational Structure

The Committee consists of one Chair, one to two Vice-Chairs, and several members. Committee members are appointed by the Association's Board of Directors based on nominations. Each term of office is three years and is renewable.

Article III: Key Responsibilities

The Academic Committee shall perform the following key responsibilities:

  • Academic Strategic Planning: To provide consultation and recommendations on the Association's long-term academic research direction, major research topics, and international cooperation strategies.
  • Educational Content Review: To review and approve the syllabi, teaching materials, and certification standards of the Association's core training programs, ensuring their academic rigor and relevance.
  • Research Project Appraisal: To be responsible for appraising major research projects funded by or conducted in the name of the Association, including providing academic evaluation for applications to funds such as the "International Cooperation Special Fund for I Ching and Environmental Research."
  • Guidance for Academic Events: To provide academic oversight for the themes, keynote speakers, and paper quality of major academic events such as international symposiums and forums hosted or co-hosted by the Association.
  • Quality Supervision of Publications: To be responsible for establishing editorial policies and conducting final reviews of manuscripts for the Association's official academic journal (if established) to ensure the quality of publications.
  • Academic Standards and Ethics: To collaborate with the Ethics Committee to formulate and maintain the Association's academic standards and to handle appeals and investigations related to academic misconduct.

Article IV: Working Procedures

Section 4.1: Meeting System

In principle, the Academic Committee shall hold at least one plenary meeting per year. The Chair may convene ad-hoc meetings or special seminars as required. Meetings may be conducted online or offline.

Section 4.2: Rules of Procedure

A committee meeting requires the attendance of at least two-thirds of its members to be valid. Resolutions are passed by a majority vote of the attending members. Matters of major importance require the approval of more than two-thirds of the attending members.

Section 4.3: Daily Operations

The daily affairs of the Academic Committee are coordinated and handled by the Association's Department of Research & Development, which serves as the secretariat for the committee, undertaking meeting arrangements, document management, and communication tasks.

Article V: Miscellaneous

Section 5.1: Amendment of Regulations

Amendments to these regulations must be proposed by more than one-third of the Academic Committee members or by the Board of Directors. They shall take effect after being reviewed and passed by a plenary meeting of the Academic Committee and approved by the Board of Directors.

Section 5.2: Right of Interpretation

The final right of interpretation of these regulations rests with the Board of Directors of the Global Feng Shui Association.
